Production quality is monitored by aid of automated optical inspection (AOI). The AOI was purchased by Icom-Scottech from AOISystems. The machine is capable of
detecting misplacement and orientation errors on components down to 0402.

We also utilise the solder defect inspection capabilities of the machine. It allows the inspection of components pre-reflow, so that any placement errors or irregularities can be corrected before reflow soldering, thus reducing rework.

The machine is also capable of first article inspection and comparison, which Icom-Scottech use to inspect all thru-hole PCBs prior to shipment.
